Launch of OpenHQ in India

OpenUK sister organisation was launched on 5th August 2025 during The Road to the AI Impact Summit series of events by OpenUK CEO Amanda Brock in Hyderabad.

OpenHQ will serve to support local open technology communities globally to support their engagement in and coalescence of those communities  around international policy initiatives. This will include bringing those communities together in events, discussions and reporting.

The first events - The Road to the AI Impact Summit will bring together communities across India in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi - thanks to the support of around 30 initial partners. This series of events will also include high-level invite-only roundtables tables in Delhi focused on the Impact Summit.

OpenHQ will initially work with the team at OpenUK to provide this ecosystem support. For the AI Impact Summit, this will include not only the events in August but a Q4 landscape report working with initial partners and a post Summit Report as well as an AI Openness Fringe in Delhi during the AI Impact Summit .

” AI Openness: Impact, Access and Innovation”
Official Pre-Summit Event of the AI Impact Summit 2026

Collaborating with local open technology communities, enterprises and policy organisations across India, OpenUK and its new sister organisation OpenHQ will raise awareness of AI openness ahead of the Indian AI Impact Summit in February 2026, in Delhi.

This will continue the conversation opened by Prime Minister Modi in his opening speech at the Paris AI Action Summit in 2025, when he mentioned the need for “access for all” to AI through “open source” AI. This will be done through AI Openness reporting and a series of 4 pulbic events across India in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi, and a high level invite only roundtable in Delhi in August 2025. We also plan future reporting and a fringe event around the AI Impact Summit. We continue to onboard further sponsors and partners. To be part of this contact admin@openuk.uk. Thanks in particular to Divya Mohan, Rohit Ghumare and Kunal Kushwaha, for so much hard work. And to “old hand” Prakash Advani for his steer.
